‘Motu’ was a cruel, wicked buffalo who lived in a dense forest. He had two sharp horns by which he used poke other animals. It was his habit to harass others using his two horns. The deer, cow, rabbit, monkey etc...... got frightened and always kept a distance from Motu. He used to attack others on flimsy ground also. The buffalo was arrogant of being strong with his horns. ‘You should feed me everyday with delicious food. Otherwise, I will teach you all a lesson’, Motu roared. Even the carnivorous animals did not hurt other creatures in the forest like this buffalo. |

The little animals convened a meeting and discussed ways to get rid of Motu. ‘He cannot be defeated by us through a direct fight. It is only through a clever move that we can over come this beast’. opined the rabbit Tintu. ‘For this purpose, we must stand united. Our plan should not be leaked out in any circumstances’, said the dee Vicky. ‘I have an idea. There is a large bee-hive beneath the banyan tree. Motu is unaware of this. We can work out a plan targeting the beehive. Both of them can be finised through a single operation,’ The monkey Kapeesh suggested the plan. But he didnot divulge the details fearing that it would be leaked out. They had a doubt in the cow Ammini, since both the cow and the buffalo belong to the same sect. Next day, the monkey, deer and rabbit came and bowed before the buffalo. ‘Oh! dear friend, we have prepared a delicious food for you today. It is covered with leaves and kept beneath the banyan tree. Otherwise the food become decay. It can be eaten only if you pierce it with your strong horns’ said the little animals alike. The buffalo did not felt any thing unusual. ‘O kay. Proceed to the site. I can pierce even hard rocks with my horns’, boasted the Motu. They all proceeded to the location. From a distance, the buffalo saw a nest covered with leaves beneath the banyan tree. He galloped, ran fast and fiercely pierced the nest, with his two horns. The little animals, who accompanied Motu ran for safety. The pack was bee hive covered with the leaves. The buffalo could not withstand the honey bee stung. It stung all over his body including eyes. He wriggled in pain. His cry for help frightened the entire forest. In the melee for survival, Motu lost his control and damaged its horns by digging on the stem of the large banyan tree. The bees stung the buffalo mercilessly. Blood began to flow from his body abundantly. Nobody dared to stand in front of the honey bee attack. The buffalo collapsed soon and died. It was the wisdom of Kapeesh monkey that worked and found success. He has covered the bee-hive with leaves well in advance the other day. Suresh Kumar
